An interview with Gert van Faassen - Founder TDC Group

TDC Group, co-founded by Gert van Faassen and his business partner, has grown over 25 years from a small interim management company into a significant player in various sectors, including 3D modeling of real estate (TDC Engineering) and staffing services.

Founder Gert Faassen had a background in controlling, marketing, and operational management before starting his entrepreneurial journey. Together with his co-founder, they built TDC focusing on long-term growth rather than profit maximization.

Key Milestones

The initial phase of TDC was focused on interim management and technical services, with a notable project involving 3D modeling. Over time, the company expanded into temporary staffing and outsourcing services, reaching a significant milestone of managing 75 to 100 employees by 2010. Despite facing challenges, such as parting ways with an early investor, Gert and his co-founder remained focused on rebuilding the business from the ground up.

TDC places significant importance on trust and collaboration. Focus on Freelancers

Since 2020, the company has seen a sharp rise in the number of freelancers working through its platform, growing from 10 to hundreds of freelancers. This shift towards freelance staffing has positioned TDC for continued expansion, especially in industries like hospitality and healthcare.

Challenges and Future Outlook

Despite the rapid growth, Gert acknowledges challenges, particularly in complying with complex tax regulations around freelancers and the ever-evolving business landscape. TDC’s cautious approach towards risk management, including fears of tax audits, illustrates their focus on maintaining compliance and sustainability.

Looking ahead, Gert remains optimistic about TDC's future, emphasizing continuous investment in new ventures and maintaining flexibility to adapt to market changes.
